Bristol Water planning road closures to replace water main April 2008

Bristol Water are due to implement replacement of the water main through parts of the village .

The early 1900's 4 inch main will be replaced with a new plastic pipe.
The complex process involves sinking working pits 100 metres apart then by using specialist hyrdaulic equipment, a new pipe is inserted into the old main.
Road closures are inevitable along sections that include bottom of Peppershells Lane, Bathford Hill and Cockers Hill
Work is expected to commence around 21st April 2008.
The route across Compton's Listed Historic Bridge over the Chew has yet to be determined and various options are being considered.

The water from Chew Valley Lake is stored at Stowey reservior holding tank, then arrives on to the Compton Dando main supply.

Parish village meetings (Extract from Parish Council Minutes Feb 2008 )

These new annual meetings are required by law and will be held for each of the villages (Compton Dando, Chewton Keynsham, Queen Charlton, Woollard and Burnett) of the Parish. These short meetings will give the parishioners the opportunity to make suggestions and raise issues for discussion relating to their village and the Parish. The meetings will be hosted by the Chairman of the Parish Council (Cllr Paget) with Minutes being taken by the Parish Clerk. The Minutes of these meetings will be collated and recorded prior to the Parish Council meeting in May 2008. The Clerk has arranged the meetings as follows:

Chewton Keynsham - Monday 31 st March 2008 at 8.00 p.m. in Chewton Keynsham Church

Queen Charlton - Monday 7 th April 2008 at 8.00 p.m. in Queen Charlton village hall

Burnett - Monday 14 th April 2008 at 8.00 p.m. in St. Michaels church Burnett

Woollard - Tuesday 15 th April 2008 at 7.30 p.m. in Compton Dando Parish Hall

Compton Dando - Tuesday 15 th April 2008 at 8.00 p.m. in Compton Dando Parish Hall

The Tuesday 15 th April village meetings will be followed by the Parish Council meeting at approximately 8.30 p.m.

Compton Dando Hall Management Committee AGM will be on
