Community Action Plan
May 2008
You'll be seeing this logo quite a lot in future!
It shows the five villages (Burnett, Chewton Keynsham, Compton Dando. Queen Charlton and Woollard) that make up our parish.
All these villages will be involved in creating the parish plan – now renamed ‘Community Action Plan' – for our parish.
What is it?
The Community Action Plan is a way for everyone in the community to have a real say in its future. What are you concerned about? What would you like to see done here in future? What ideas do you have for how things could be improved?
It involves a community consultation about anything and everything of interest to people in the parish and results in an Action Plan to achieve what is wanted. It can also influence local and national government decisions.
What has happened so far?
At the Open Day in February in Compton Dando, over 40 people volunteered to be involved in some way and some of these have now formed a Steering Group to get things moving. Charles Fallon is the chair, Elizabeth Brealey is Secretary, Julia Adamson is Treasurer and Pamela Cole is Publicity Officer.
We have successfully applied for a grant of just over £2500 from the Quartet foundation to fund the expenses involved in doing the Plan. The Parish Council support the work and will pay a mandatory contribution of £150.
What happens now?
Over the next few months we want to consult everyone who lives here or has an interest in the parish. You will have a chance to say what issues concern you and also what things you would like to see here in the future. All ideas and views are welcome, on whatever topics you care about.
We would like as many people as possible to get involved in some way with this consultation so we make sure everyone's views are heard. The idea is for lots of people in the community to be involved, doing as much or as little as you have time for.
If you have not yet volunteered to help and would like to see how you might get involved, please contact any member of the Steering Group.
